You need a uniform...

First off, I will start this entry with some lyrics from my favorite band Mindless Self Indulgence:

You don't mean it

You need a uniform
So you won't be ignored
You are affected
And so you're accepted

It's time you invested in a bottle of poison
So we don't have to hear about you bitchin and moanin
You think you could afford a fuckin bottle of asprin

Boo fuckin hoo you're not the only one whose live's a piece of shit
And yet miraculously somehow we all seem to deal with it
Did anybody think that you would really seriously slit your wrists
In fact I think that everybody thinks you're seriously full of shit

You don't mean it

You need a uniform
So you won't be ignored
You are affected
And so you're accepted

It's time you invested in a bottle of poison
So we don't have to hear about you bitchin and moanin
You think you could afford a fuckin bottle of asprin

You think you're saying something relevant as you connect the dots
You never realized you have to get in line to suck a cock
You're telling me that fifty million screaming fans are never wrong
I'm telling you that fifty million screaming fans are fucking morons

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, that in this day and age, just to fit in, we have to wear a "uniform", so to speak. We have to be someone that we're not. And when people do that, we alienate the only true friends we they had. The ones who cared for us no matter what happened. The ones that said they would be there for us if we ever needed them, at any time, no matter how late we called, or if we ever needed a place to go. I continously use the word "we" because, in fact, we've all done it at least once in our lives. Some people need to realize that one does not have to pretend to be someone to find acceptance.

As Mindless Self Indulgence states, "you're telling me that fifty millions screaming fans are never wrong...", it is true. There are so many people who act "fake" just to fit in. Some people think that when "those" people that they've had their eye on finally acknowlegde their existence, that they're one of the cool crowd.

As for the emo kids, of which I am one. People say stuff just to fit in to groups. Most of the time, the emo kids are the ones who don't give a rat's ass about what others think. But yet, there are those who try to fit into this group. And even people who try to fit into this group, act "fake" to fit in. They try to say that they also have problems. That people don't accept them.

I myself have friends who don't even have the same style as me, and we get along just great. I have friend named "A.J." who wears hip-hop style clothes, and I've been friends with him for 9 years. I also have a friend named "Cocoa", who wears preppy clothes. Though I've only known her for a few weeks, we are already great friends. See? What people wear doesn't define the person in 'em.

But people shouldn't define eachother by labels. As is said in the above song, "It's time you invested in a bottle of poison, so we don't have to hear about you bitching and moaning." For those of us who hang out with people no matter their style, that's our motto. We could do without the bullshit of people who only want to hang out with the people who wear the same clothing as them simply for that fact. Everyone has a hard life. Nothing in this world is fair. From all of us who are friends with people of all styles, we could do without the shit of people that want to alienate us from eachother.
